It’s safe to say that Dwayne The Rock Johnson looks like a God among common people because of his muscular build and strength. He is 6’4” tall and weighs 270 pounds. We mentioned that he looks like a God, well in Moana he did play a God. But, let’s see what you would need to do to become like him. At least when it comes to food.
First of all, you have to be prepared to spend loads of cash on food. His diet is full of protein on a daily basis. This guy usually gets up at 4 am to eat his first meal. Oh yeah, did we mention that he eats 10 pounds of food per day? Well, yes, he does. That’s more than 5,000 calories injected through seven meals.
We stumbled upon a single peculiar element of his diet while going through it and it is cod. Cod is a fish rich in protein, besides that he likes to eat steak, chicken, eggs, potatoes and veggies of course. However, Dwayne consumes at least two pounds of cod per day. That means over 70 pounds monthly. Crazy, right?
Last year he jokingly said that he stopped eating cod since ‘stocks of cod are dwindling.’ Unfortunately, we do not know what replaced cod so far. According to ‘Muscle & Fitness‘ for which he revealed his diet in 2015 (before dropping cod) here is his usual diet routine.
Meal 1: 10 ounces cod, 2 whole eggs, 2 cups oatmeal
Meal 2: 8 ounces cod, 12 ounces sweet potato, 1 cup veggies
Meal 3: 8 ounces chicken, 2 cups white rice, 1 cup veggies
Meal 4: 8 ounces cod, 2 cups rice, 1 cup veggies, 1 tablespoon fish oil
Meal 5: 8 ounces steak, 12 ounces baked potato, spinach salad
Meal 6: 10 ounces cod, 2 cups rice, salad
Meal 7: 30 grams casein protein, 10-egg white omelet, 1 cup veggies (onions, peppers, mushrooms), 1 tablespoon omega-3 fish oil
What would happen to you should you try to eat like The Rock?
First of all, this diet is not for everyone! Dwayne is humongous, and all this food is needed so as to maintain his build. Of course, that means that he works out like hell. However, two common guys tried to do it after reading about it. Here are their stories.
A blogger for Complex, facing what he described as “a steady onslaught of grilled meats and steamed veggies,” couldn’t manage it for even a day. Another guy, Mark Webster, tried it and tracked his progress online. “I feel fantastic,” he told FiveThirtyEight after a month. But over that month, he spent $1,262 on food — about $42 per day, including $18 just on cod.
The question of money
Let’s be honest here, most of us couldn’t even afford eating like The Rock even if we wanted to. In general fresh cod is somewhere around $12.99 a pound and frozen cod stands at $6.99 a pound. We know that you probably eat veggies and meat and eggs, but at these aforementioned quantities, you’d really have to allocate a lot of money just to buy food. Imagine having to prepare all that food. It would be crazy. However, if you try to eat like The Rock, we advise you to keep track of your spending and look for the cheapest possible solution. Not the low price products but the best retailer when it comes to the offer. On top of that be prepared to spend few hours in the gym every day so you would burn all those calories and send them in right direction.
