The Emperor penguins can endure temperatures that can drop to -50C and winds that can blow up to 200 km/h. Their protection is two layers of feathers, but they also have reserves of fat and smaller beaks and flippers compared to the ones of the other penguins in order to prevent heat loss. Their legs are wrapped in feathers as well, but interestingly enough, their feet contain special fats to safeguard them and strong claws to help them keep balance.
