Carol Santa Fe, a 45-year-old woman from San Diego, California, said that he has been in love with the Santa Fe train station since she was just a nine-year-old girl and now as strange as it sounds, they got married. Even though she goes on a 45-minute bus ride to the station in order to spend time with it, she enjoys going there.
Their marriage is not legal, but she decided to marry the building in 2015 and last year on Christmas, the happy couple celebrated their first anniversary. She even said that their type of physical relation is on a psychological level and she believes that she is a kind of person that is attracted to inanimate objects and structures.
This phenomenon to be in love with structures is debatable, and some believe it is a fetish, while others claim it is a mental condition. This is what Carol has to say about her matrimony:
“I am married to the Santa Fe train station – her name is Daidra. We didn’t start a relationship until 2011 but I had been in love with the station since I was a young girl. When we got married, I stood there and I told her that I take it as my partner. It was the happiest day of our lives.”
Carol continued:
“I take a 45-minute bus ride every night to see the station. When I get there I say hello to her – I then walk around the block circling around her, trying not to let anyone notice I am talking. There is a private bit where two walls meet, I go there to touch her, which I do by leaning against her with my clothes on. When I’m touching her, I feel as though it actually holds me and kisses me. I especially like when I hear the trains rev up their engines – it turns me on.”
Carol said that he had a relationship with a guy named Tom and it lasted for 18 months. She added:
“But it didn’t work out and I felt amazing when I got into a relationship with Diadra because she told that she would never leave me. I love her so much, she is so romantic. We first consummated our love a few years ago when I felt the wall behind me, and I felt this energy.”
She goes on to say that she hides this from people because she is afraid that they will not let her approach the station. Carol says that she is not ashamed and her only worry is that she will be banned from the site. She stated:
“I am so scared of getting caught, so I don’t tell the station security that we are married. I love just to walk around and look at my partner and enjoy the station’s company.”
“Daidra and I chat about normal things, I always tell her how my day has been. I feel really lonely not having anyone to talk to about it. Daidra has been the most stable partner I have ever had. I have had the time of my life being her wife. I used to be scared of being in love with humans, but I’m not scared with Daidra. I can never leave San Diego, because my lover is here. I could never love another train station – she is the one,” ended Carol
However, her case of falling in love with the objects in not the only one and there have been several cases recorded in the world. For example, Erica Eiffel kissed the Eiffel Tower, and she was banned for doing so. Also, Eklöf Berliner-Mauer married the Berlin wall in 1979, and that was the first example shown in public.
