According to Nokiapoweruser, the new high-end Nokia 8 might be sold in the United State and China after all. So far, HMD Global, the company which licenses the Nokia phone brand has reported that the manufacturer doesn’t plan to launch the new phone in these two markets. It is a different story now, and we might see the “custom” Nokia 8 version specifically for the US and China.
The Nokia 8, which was presented last week, is the premium Android phone by the popular brand. HMD Global picked up the Nokia name from Microsoft in 2016 and started using Android instead of Windows. Earlier in the year, Nokia has launched 3, 5 and 6 devices, which are all affordable, but the new Nokia 8 is the flagship model that will compete against the likes of the Galaxy S8, LG G6, and Google Pixel. However, if they decided not to sell the phone in such large markets as the US and China, they will not be a serious rival to the other smartphone manufacturers.
In China, the Nokia might come with 6GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, reports Nokiapoweruser. The ongoing version of the phone has 4GB of RAM. This reminds us of the HMD’s first launch of the Nokia 6 as a Chinese exclusive in January, which was months before it rolled out globally. The Chinese-spec version had more RAM than the one introduced in the other countries, so our question is, could the same thing happen now with Nokia 8?
The same goes for the US market – more RAM is expected. However, the release date is unfamiliar, but there is a possibility that the phone would go on sale in China first, according to some rumors. The Nokia 8 is equipped with the Snapdragon 835 processor, Zeiss optics dual camera, and quick-charge capabilities. The phone will go on sale in September with the starting price of $705 or €599.
