The best night of Naomi’s pro wrestling career happened during the Elimination Chamber pay per view as she won the Smackdown Women’s Championship and was crowned a champion for the first time in her run with the WWE. She did appear a bit hurt on the first Smackdown Live after the event, but she kept her title.
Next week, it was revealed that her injury is slightly more serious than the people in the company thought at first, so they had her relinquish the title on the spot. She needed to take time off and needed to recover. If the injury weren’t that serious, the company would just keep the title on her for a few weeks, but she wouldn’t be wrestling.
The seriousness of the injury showed that she wouldn’t be able to wrestle for an extended period so relinquishing the title was the right move. She sprained her ACL during her match with Alexa Bliss while doing her finisher.
She is currently in the rehab and will maybe appear in Orlando at Wrestlemania. Daniel Bryan said that every available woman will be with Bliss in a championship match so that still leaves the door open for Naomi to appear in front of her hometown fans.
Her father went on Twitter to give an update on her current condition. He said that Trinity, which is Naomi’s real name, is working towards returning before Mania and that she will be ready. Naomi also said that Wrestlemania performance is her goal and that her recovery is going well so far.
