It was a bitter-sweet victory for the Oakland Raiders against the Indianapolis Colts. They have won this high-scoring contest, but it came with a price. They quarterback Derek Carr suffered a broken fibula in this matchup and will be forced to miss the rest of the regular season as well as the postseason action.
The Raiders are in the midst of their best season in decades. They have held the top spot in the AFC just a couple of weeks ago, but have fallen to five, only to regain their leading position in the division and the second seed in the AFC. All that will maybe go to waste as their starting signal-caller is done for the season.
This offense is one of the best in the NFL, and without a doubt, Derek Carr is their leader. It’s going to be hard for them to be as effective now when he is out. The weapons are there still, but it was Carr that got these guys going. He was the one that was leading this squad as they were dominating every single defense that they have gone up against.
Now, with McGloin at quarterback and with a shaky defense, outside of Khalil Mack, of course, this team is pretty much doomed. They will probably get the first round bye, like the Patriots, but then it’s all over for the Raiders. They will probably play against the winner of the matchup between the Texans and the Chiefs. The only way that we see them winning a game is if they get the Texans in the Divisional Round. If not, this great season for the Raiders will finish in a sad way.
