Even though Game of Thrones and Stranger Things have dragons and monsters, it was Westworld that stole the spotlight as one of the most innovative series. The fans loved the show, they loved the confusion, the whole concept of the series and now, they want to see more. Westworld was such a success, and HBO is preparing Season 2.
Release Date
HBO confirmed that Westworld Season 2 is going to be out in Spring 2018. The cast and crew have started filming in Utah, exactly where the first season was filmed, according to Fox13. They also stated that filming in this location is going to last until April 2018. Evan Rachel Wood posted a photo of her corset, which means that she is ready for action. One month later, she gave us a hint at the first episode’s plot.
Westworld Season 2 Trailer
Here you can watch the trailer, which reveals quite a lot. The people wreaked havoc, but it is quite clear who survives are – we can see Dolores, Bernard, and Maeve, who looks at carnage done by her hand. HBO released a brief snippet of new footage from Season 2 to which teases Samurai World, but this video has been deleted. Just like Season 1, Season 2 will also have ten episodes.
Old Cast Members and New Characters
Producers said nothing about the actors who will appear in the new season, but we can predict who is coming back. Ed Harris, who plays the older iteration of The Man in Black in the first season definitely returns. He told BBC Radio 4: “I was just talking to Jonah Nolan last night, who’s a creator of this thing [Westworld] with his wife Lisa Joy, and yeah, they’re doing another season. They’re going to do ten more episodes, and I will be involved.”
His young iteration was played by Jimmi Simpson, who probably won’t be a part of the sequel. He told Cinema Blend that his involvement in Season 2 is “unclear.” He added: “If they have more for William, I would assume it would be a whole new kind of story. Because I feel like this story, the love affair, we know everything, we know what happens, we don’t have to labor that point. But if they have a reason–I mean, it was the greatest set I’ve ever worked on.”
“But we’re all speculating what Season 2 will be, and I think it’ll be something that will blow our minds, to the degree that Season 1 did” the actor explained. “But I wouldn’t be surprised if William showed up Season 3 or something.”
However, he spoke to IGN at Comic-Con, and he said that he would return, while he gave an explicit confirmation via Twitter one week after that. Of course, Westworld wouldn’t be Westworld without Rachel Evan Woods who plays Dolores and Thandie Newton as Maeve. Meanwhile, Anthony Hopkins’ Robert Ford was shot in the season finale, and he will not be in the new episodes. At least that is the assumption.
However, producer Jonathan Nolan didn’t rule out the possibility of Hopkins’ return. He told Hollywood Reporter: “I think with this show, you want to assume nothing,” whereas Hopkins told The Mirror: “Nobody knows anything. I don’t know anything. I cannot give any answers as I don’t know.” Meanwhile, James Marsden a.k.a. Teddy posted a photo in the western clothes from the set, so he is good. Dolores’ father Peter Abernathy, played by Louis Herthum is also coming back for Westworld Season 2, so does Talulah Riley, who played the welcoming host Angela.
There will be new actors on the show, and one of them is Katja Herbers whose character is described as “a seasoned guest in Westworld whose latest visit comes at the park’s darkest hour.” Also, Gustaf Skarsgård, Betty Gabriel, and Fares Fares are all joining the squad, according to Variety.
Season 2 of Westworld Plot
Nolan and co-producer Lisa Joy have been quiet about the new Season, but he said: “We are definitely not picking up right where we left off.” The fans are thrilled about the introduction of the new worlds. There are other worlds such as Roman and Medieval World, but Nolan said at Comic-Con in New York that they are not going to base their stories in the Roman and Medieval Worlds.
However, they are going to encounter new worlds with one of them being the Samurai World. Joy confirmed it by saying: “It’s [Samurai World] wonderful to work with actors we haven’t worked with before. This allows us a lot of access to Asian actors and the Asian community.”
In the trailer, there is a dead tiger on the beach and Bernard looking at it completely surprised and confused. Perhaps it wandered off from Samurai or East World, which leaked into West World. There is a lot of speculation about this, but we cannot tell what is going to happen exactly. Since they are filming in Utah, the West World is going to be the core set for the future episodes. At least for now.
All we know about the future episodes is that “chaos” is going to rule over the West World and Nolan said that “ruthlessness seen will carry over into the new episodes.” Meanwhile, the show’s official website posted a coded message, and we are going to let you try to decode it.
Westworld Season 2 will be interesting and perhaps even better and more intense than the first one. Follow us for more details.
