German carmaker Volkswagen assembled the Atlas Weekend Edition, which was displayed at the Chicago Auto Show. The Atlas Weekend Edition is the three-row SUV, and it brings so many new features to Chicago, while it is expected to go on sale in Spring this year.
Volkswagen presented some really interesting solutions for the interior, while they also added more storage space to the roof of this car. This special edition is a tribute to the VW’s “go anywhere attitude” that evokes the spirit of the traditional Vanagon.
German car maker will offer the variant of the legendary extended roof in the form of an “Urban Loader” cargo box, which increases the cargo space by 17.7 cubic-feet. Furthermore, the Atlas Weekend Edition will have carrier bags to which you can attach snowboards, kayaks, skis or bikes, which is great if you are going on an active vacation. Furthermore, it brings a set of side steps for the youngest passengers while those 18-inch Prisma wheels painted in custom anthracite gray give it a special look.
Window and hood deflectors, a privacy cargo cover, all-weather rubber mats, heavy-duty trunk liner with seat-back coverage are only some of the equipment the Atlas Weekend Edition has. If you want the regular version instead of the Weekend Edition, you can add all of these at an extra cost, since they are offered as an option.
Engine
The VW Atlas Weekend Edition comes with a 3.6-liter VR6 engine that produces 276 horses and which is connected to a new eight-speed automatic gearbox. There is a 4Motion all-wheel-drive as a standard, and the driver will have the ability to choose among several driving modes via Drive Mode Select.
Interior
Inside the cabin, there is a pet barrier located behind the second row, which is an interesting and useful addition if you are taking your pet on vacation. Because of a universal tablet mount, the passengers can use various touchscreen tablets, while there are also Media Control Center and Wi-Fi connectivity.
