Thanksgiving day matchups always have that special feel to them. That is going to be the case in this game as well. Two teams that are fighting for the divisional crown are going head-to-head in Week 12. Both of these squads are coming off wins this past Sunday so it should be a great duel to watch.
Minnesota Vikings have put an end to their four-game losing streak. They finally got that much-needed win in order to stay at the top together with their Thursday’s opponents. Their defense made some huge plays against the Cardinals, and they will have to do that again against Matthew Stafford who is playing maybe the best football of his life.
Detriot Lions are 6-4 when nobody expected them to do that. Even though Stafford’s favorite target Calvin Johnson retired this past offseason, Matt has had an amazing season. If he keeps putting this team on his back and continues to deliver the goods, he might re-enter the MVP conversation. He has dropped off a bit in competition for that award since Lions are still not an elite squad, but if they win this division, he should be given a strong consideration.
It’s going to be the defense against the offense. Vikings defense will need to try and slow down Stafford, while the Lions are going to need to score some points. Vikes’ offense got some momentum back this Sunday, but Lions defense is also not a joke. They were able to stop quite a few teams this season.
This game is tough to pick. With Packers being even further behind now, these two squads are two remaining in the NFC North divisional race. We are going to with the home team here and pick the Lions to get the job done on Thanksgiving Thursday. Detroit will win this one 25:21.
