The Venturi Buckeye Bullet-3 set a new record of 341.4 mph (549.43 km/h) and thus became the world fastest electric vehicle.
The third generation VBB was designed and completed in 2013 when they tried to set the new record, but because of the poor weather conditions in Utah, they decided to postpone the attempt. Unfortunately, the bad weather stopped them in 2014 and in 2015, but this year, they finally managed to do it.
After the 11-mile runs on Bonneville Salt Flats in both directions, the Venturi VBB-3 had an average speed of 341.4 mph (549.43 km/h). These runs were held out at one-hour intervals, according to the rules of the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile. The top speed VBB-3 achieved was 358 mph (576 km/h) and they broke another FIA record.

Venturi joined forces with the engineering students from Ohio State University in order to create this machine. The engine produces 3,000 hp and 2.800 Nm (2065 lb-ft) of torque and the vehicle was handled by Roger Schroer. Moreover, they designed electric motors powered by 2MW batteries from A123 System for these purposes only.
The batteries weigh around 1.6 tons (3,200 pounds) and the vehicle as a whole is about 3.5 tons (7,000 lbs). The Venturi still waits for FIA to confirm both records and they stated that with some modifications and perfect weather conditions the vehicle could reach 400 mph (643.74 km/h).
