Dez Bryant was released by Dallas Cowboys in April, and so far he hasn’t landed a contract with any team. Many people with connections to NFL and America’s Team have commented on his status, and one of them is former Cowboys QB Troy Aikman.
Bryant, who remains a free agent allegedly refused a three-year $21 million deal from Baltimore Ravens. Former Cowboys WR is looking for a one-year prove it deal, before signing another LTD. Dez, who is 29-years old is all-time touchdown leader for Big D franchise with 73 TDs. Aikman is baffled that player of Bryant renown still hasn’t signed with any team.
Talking to Sports Day Aikman said: “I’m a little surprised he hasn’t signed with a team yet. I think he’ll land somewhere. I think he’s highly motivated to show people he’s still got some years left, very productive years and that should help him get prepared for this season and go out and play at a high level.”
After leaving Dallas, Bryant received a lot of support from his former teammates and friends. One of those guys who agree with Aikman is Dallas Cowboys slot receiver, Cole Beasley.
Cowboys leader in receptions during the 2016 season said: “I’ve seen the things going around that teams won’t even sign him for a minimum. I’m like that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. I don’t know if it’s just rumors going around, what he is off the field or in the locker room.”
According to people close to Dallas Cowboys and Dez Bryant, it’s only a matter of time before he finds a new team. But, at the moment there doesn’t seem to be any suitors. During the 2017 season, Bryant had 69 receptions for 838 yards and six touchdowns. That was Bryant’s best seasons since 2014 when he had 1,320 yards and 16 touchdowns. While the previous season numbers aren’t astonishing, it should be enough for Dez to land somewhere on a league veteran minimum. So, why isn’t he?
