1Fast Five (2011)
The Fast & Furious franchise was saved when Justin Lin took over as director. But its rise back to the powerhouse that is today started when they added Dwayne The Rock Johnson. Vin Diesel played the role of big macho-man for years but he was started to get cheesy, and his popularity dropped. They needed someone similar to play on the opposite side. They got exactly that with Johnson in Fast Five.
The movies needed The Rock. They got more than they asked. His chemistry on the set is ideal for entire crew (yeah, minus Tyrese Gibson). The franchise was resurrected with Johnson to that extent that he’s making a spin-off centered around Hobbs, his character. Another actor from F&F family, Jason Statham will be his co-star.
All in all, the only way to go big is to go The Rock.
