5Marzal
We couldn’t leave this beauty out. A one and only, four-seat gullwing Lambo concept had to have its place on our list. And yeah, it also features a prototype straight-six engine. Incredible.
Traditionally, this revolutionary piece of automotive industry was displayed during the 1967 Geneva Motor Show and was named after a fighting bull. It had a transversally mounted six-pot that was derived from Miura’s V12 engine, and it produced modest 175bhp. It never powered another Lambo ever.
Miura’s chassis served as a basis for Marzal’s, however, it was extended. Marzal had a pair of long gullwing doors with large windows and a smoked glass roof. Due to all that glass, Bertone came up with the idea to help engineers deal with the air-conditioning. They didn’t want the driver to dissolve into liquid due to all that sunlight blazing straight from above.
Ferruccio was asked about the doors and the obsessive use of glass, and he claimed how ‘a lady’s legs would be there for all to see.’ But things didn’t turn out as planned. However, it did pave the way for the Espada.
