6Cheetah
Brace yourselves, take a look at the 1977 Lamborghini Cheetah. It was a sporty 4×4 that ‘marked one of the lowest points in Lambo’s history’ How unfortunate.
The company struggled somewhere during the seventies and owners really needed some extra cash quickly. They took on contracts for other companies. One of the results of such action was the chassis that was designed for the BMW M1, and another was for the US Military on behalf of MIT. The latter was the Cheetah.
And now you’re probably thinking to yourself ‘Cool, the car looks nice, the design is something else, quite original.’ But no, it wasn’t so original. Ford threatened to sue! They deemed that Lambo stole something from them. BMW pulled out of M1 development, Lambo went into receivership. But the story doesn’t end there for the Cheetah. Lamborghini’s new owners saw something in this monster 4×4 car.
The Cheetah project morphed in the LM002 a few years later, and it was the coolest and most cathedral-like Lambo ever!
