Even though “New Edge” Mustangs were just going on sale, American carmaker wanted to waste no time, so they started with the development of the fifth-generation car, once again based on the 1960s model. This new Mustang was modern indeed, but it was the closest car Ford had built to the original since the 1970s. Only two years later, in 2007, Ford’s Special Vehicle Team took the covers off the Shelby GT500 with 500 horsepower which focused on speed and performance.
