Ford introduced the “New Edge” Mustang in 1999 getting ready for the turn of the century. This model separated the Mustang from the aging Firebird and Camaro, and it packed a V6 engine under the hood. However, the 2000 Cobra R stole the spotlight, and although limited to just 300 units, its 385-hp 5.4-liter V8 engine and the top speed of 175 mph were remarkable. It attacked cars such as Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and Dodge Viper, and it attacked them ruthlessly.
