This is one of the most unusual national forest parks, and it is consisted out of the pillar-like formations which have emerged as a result of many years of erosion. The most famous pillar out of all is the Southern Sky Column, and this quartz-sandstone stands at 3.544 feet high with a small oasis of trees that grace its peak. It is said that this was the inspiration for James Cameron’s “Avatar.” Who would knew right?!
