E.R. was a costly show, and most of the money went into the pockets of lead cast members. NBC bought the series from Warner Brothers, and it became the most-watched scripted show on TV. One of the producers of the show, Warner Brothers’ Les Moonves later became the CBS head, while thanks to odd contracts, E.R. earned a $268 million for 22 episodes.
