If we have a car video games genre let’s also say that we have a sub-genre of karting video games. Super Mario Kart was a pioneer in that segment. Even though we had a lot of respawns of the game we can only credit the original Super Mario Kart. The game had user friendly and easy interface and you didn’t need to have experience in order to be good at it. That doesn’t mean however that tracks were easy or whatnot, they offered plenty of fun challenges and gimmicks. There were secrets and shortcuts for those who are the bravest. You could challenge your best friend and if you knew these shortcuts his rage would be guaranteed in the end. How good was that? This game still has the best battle mod of any Mario Kart games out there. Some would describe it as ‘evergreen’ and they wouldn’t be wrong.
