As you are aware by now, there are a lot of questions that revolve around Tony Romo and his football career. He is still in unknown waters and doesn’t know whether he will be traded to the Houston Texans or Denver Broncos? Will he be cut and join them as a free agent, or will he retire and take a job on television? The only sure thing is that he will not remain with the Dallas Cowboys the next season. Yes, until then we found out that Dallas quarterback Tony Romo is playing golf this weekend and he will be competing in the Azalea Invitational today through Sunday at the Country Club of Charleston, S.C. This was found out via the Charleston Post and Courier, which stated that Romo will return to play in the said tournament, but he won’t be alone, his back will be guarded by his father, Ramiro Romo.
For those of you who didn’t know, this is not Romo’s first tournament. He played in the Azalea Invitational five times, from 2008-2012, and made the cut three times, which is impressive. But there is something else to his return to the golf course. It also tells us a lot about his health. If you recall, he stopped playing in offseason just before the 2013 season mainly because he had a number of back surgeries and injuries over the last four years. The fact that he is back on the green with a club in his arms and confidence means only one thing – his health is good.
But there could also be another side to this coin. This guy could also be trying to send mixed messages to the Texans and Broncos, who did not hide their worries when Romo’s durability came in question. With this, he could be telling them “Hey look, do not worry I am good enough to play golf, and I will be good enough on the field.” But he could also be showing them his disregard for his health by risking an injury playing golf while his football future is still uncertain.
