Just when everybody expected the Dallas Cowboys to trade or to release Tony Romo this spring, the veteran quarterback decided that he is going to make a decision and chose what he wants to do. He called it quits after being with the same team for more than a decade. Romo retired and the whole quarterback saga that has followed the Cowboys for almost a year now was over. Romo made his choice.
The Houston Texans were rumored to be interested in bringing Romo, but that never happened. Houston knew that they didn’t need to trade for Romo as he would likely get cut, but Tony was quicker than everybody else and has decided that he has played enough professional football. Now, he is going to be a broadcaster alongside Jim Nantz, so we will have a chance to watch him on TV again.
There were rumors that he might return do Dallas if they needed him or if something were to happen to Dak Prescott, but Tony Romo has doubled down on his retirement. Former ‘Boys signal caller has made peace with his decision and is ready to learn all the tricks and trades of the broadcasting business.
“Like I said before, I am done. I’m pretty happy and excited about the opportunity that was presented to me. I got Nantz teaching me all the tricks of the trade that I’m going to be behind on, but I’m improving fast. I’m excited about it. It gives me a chance to be complete, get better and improve. I get to be passionate about the game, hopefully, teach a little bit, hopefully, make it a little bit entertaining along the way. It’s going to be fun.”
