Just a day after he announced that he is moving on from the game of football, Tony Romo has done a lot of interviews and started explaining his decision to make a transition from the field to the commentating booth. He was on a radio show for the Dallas Sports radio station 105.3 where he talked about his decision.
“It gets to a point where you start to think about it, sulk in it, pray about it, you lay in bed and talk to your wife, talk to your dad, you talk to the closest people you’ve come to trust over the years and you just try to evaluate everything and make the best decision possible,” Romo started to explain. He continued by saying “That’s what you do. As it got closer and as I got all the way in, it became CBS, and now when I look back, it seems like an easy decision. But it took a while to get there. Now, moving forward, I’m excited, I’m nervous, I’ve got to go and start from ground zero, just try to figure out how to build my way up and become someone who’s good at their craft.”
Romo really never used the “retired” word. Obviously, this guy did leave the door slightly open for a return to the game of football as he did mention that he is “99 percent” sure that he is done with playing. In this interview, he also stated that he had the chance to keep playing the game that he loves, but that he was the one that decided it is time to hang up the cleats.
