“Tomb Raider” Movie: News and Updates

The release year of a new “Tomb Raider” movie has been established. It will hit big screens in 2018 with Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft in the leading role.

The main story or the center event of the film will revolve around Lara’s quest for her father. Producer Graham King has revealed some details on the topic:

“This is kind of what we call a back to the roots story,” he said. “This is a young Lara Croft in search to see if her father is dead or alive, so it has a very emotional part to it and I think that’s what Alicia found so interesting about it.”

“I think the storytelling is really good and I think we’ve got the right crew and a great director,” he added.

Having taken the demanding role of Angelina Jolie, Alicia is looking forward to giving the movie another perspective. As she said for HitFix:

“They told me they were doing the film based on the reboot of the game from 2013. That is more of an origin story. You get into an emotional aspect of getting to know Lara hopefully in an in-depth way. So I hope that doing a film of the rebooted game will bring something new and fresh that’ll stand on its own two legs.”

The actress also remembered playing the game when she was little “I was a bit scared playing it when I was 12, 13. I had to go take little breaks”. As we can recall, the first movie of Tomb Rider has achieved enormous success as a video game, however, the third film has not shared the same destiny as it faced many obstacles at the time.

Tomb Raider Release Date

The new “Tomb Raider” movie will be released on March 16, 2018.
