If you are interested in the world of movies and series, hardly a day can go by without noticing Dwayne Johnson either preparing some project, working on a set, addressing the fans, etc. The Rock is simply everywhere. However, it hasn’t always been like this, and it has taken Dwayne Johnson some time to join the elite Hollywood squad. Only five years ago, Tom Cruise got a role over Dwayne Johnson – a big role.
The former WWE star is very active on social media, and he uses them in the right way. Recently a fan wrote on Twitter about the Rock having been rejected for the role of Jack Reacher, and it turned out that the famous actor had been disappointed about it, too. The fan thought that Johnson would be perfect for the role, to what Dwayne replied:
“Yup, luv the character. Bout 10 years ago I went after the role, but Cruise got it. Was great motivation for me to always stay hungry.”
Dwayne Johnson handled the rejection with dignity, and although he would have been great in the Jack Reacher franchise, he managed to find the silver lining. By 2012 The Rock had been rather successful, and even though he could have stopped working so hard, he has continued to contribute to the movie industry even more.
Some of his latest projects include Disney’s Moana, and now we can watch him in The Fate of the Furious, playing the role of Hobbs. Johnson has the lead role in HBO’s Ballers, and he is working on two reboots – Baywatch and Jumanji. There is no doubt that Dwayne Johnson would’ve been more than great in the role of Jack Reacher, but if he had been assigned back then, we might not have him in the movies mentioned above.
The Fate of the Furious is the next film in which you can see The Rock in action, and it premieres on April 14, 2017.
