Nobody made a better impact on a certain show after the brand split than The Miz. There is no doubt that he was the best heel on both shows when he was holding the IC title. He made it relevant again and did it by his amazing promos. The best one was when he ripped into Daniel Bryan on the Talking Smack show.
Many people were wondering if that was a work or a “shoot” segment. It was reported that it was planned for The Miz to make a statement on the Talking Smack, but nobody really knew what The A-Lister was going to say. A couple of months later, he finally spoke about the segment and told everybody what happened that time.
“You guys are getting an exclusive here. I don’t think I’ve ever told this. So here was my day to that point: I wasn’t written on the episode that day and I’m the Intercontinental champion. This is the title that I’ve loved since I was a child and I don’t want to be the guy who says, ‘I’m going to make it great,’ and then not do anything. I want to make it great.”
“So I told them to put me on ‘Talking Smack’. They asked, ‘Well what are you going to do?’ And I said I’m going to rip into Daniel Bryant. And then I guess I kind of went overboard. And when I go, I have no filter. It’s everything that is fueling inside of me and I just black out.”
The Miz did admit that he hit Bryan “below the belt” and that he said some things that he probably shouldn’t have said. Still, he also stated that when he gets into that mode of his, he just keeps going and says everything that is on his mind. He clearly did it there, and that is why the segment was great.
