Lead auto analyst Adam Jonas of Morgan Stanley, who called Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) as the most important Car company of the world, in a new research report discusses in detail of the upcoming Model X SUV, and of a possible an electric pickup truck.
According to Jonas, “While not explicitly modeled in our earnings forecasts at this time, we see potential for Model X volume (and related derivatives, including an electric pickup truck) to be significantly higher than the Model S.”
Segment dominated by big names
The move may come as a surprise to many as an electric pickup truck is something, which has never been heard before. If Elon Musk plans to sell pickup trucks in the U.S., then it won’t be easy as the market already has many big names that have a prominent grasp over the market. For decades, the market is completely captured by the Detroit’s Big Three – General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler.
Though the competition is tough but still Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) has a lot of scope to succeed. This is so because the pickup truck produced by Tesla would surely be special like the Model s. If Tesla is successful at selling an electric pickup trucks then it would form a big success story in the history of the auto industry, believe Jonas.
Tesla Model X may get delayed
Adam Jonas believes that the company if decides to proceed with the manufacturing of electric trucks then it will be able to register huge growth as this sector has lots to offer. It will also provide an opportunity to the auto-maker for re-branding considering given the entrenched notion of large, gas-guzzling trucks and SUVs.
Model X, the crossover SUV by the electric car maker based in the Silicon Valley is highly anticipated, but the car may get delayed, believe Morgan Stanley’s head auto analyst Adam Jonas. This news has negatively impacted the company’s shares. The potential competitors of Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) have a reason to relax as they get to know that the super ambitious Model X would be delayed. Analyst expects that it could finally be launched in the third-quarter of next year.
