Rare are the occasions when anyone in their right mind would bet on Tesla in any kind of race. Musk’s cars are known for a number of things, but speed wasn’t always their strong suit. The company made some pretty fast cars but is it possible for any Tesla to beat a rival supercar? It turns out it really is.
A YouTube user that goes by the name of Drag Times recently posted a video where he pitted Tesla and Lambo against one another on a race track. And we’ll admit it was a hell of a good race.
Drag Time used a Tesla Model X P100D crossover SUV and a $530,000 Lamborghini Aventador. And would you believe it if we said that Tesla did outrun the Aventador by .05 of a second? That’s exactly what happened.
Aventador had few advantages on its side, and one of those was surely its weight. Tesla is 5,400 pounds heavy whereas the Aventador is almost 1,200 pounds lighter. That didn’t stop Tesla from winning though. This audacious vehicle not only won against a Lambo but it also set a world record for the quickest SUV with a quarter mile time clocking in at 11,418 seconds blazing at nearly 118 mph.
What a result, right? But that’s just another day at the office for Tesla at the Palm Beach International Raceway. Who knows what we can expect in the coming days. This company and its vehicles proved to be full of surprises on many occasions.
