Fans of Steven Universe had an unpredicted huge surprise for New Year, on Monday. Five new Season 4 episodes were uploaded on the site of Cartoon Network, but according to Matt Burnett, the co-writer, it was a mistake. Currently, Season 2 is on a two-month pause, and the return is planned with new five episodes.
Supposedly, the episodes could be streamed if the viewer used his cable provider to log in. Ever since then, they’ve been removed. After the leak, it was very much debated on Reddit and other social media if the full footage episodes were published on purpose or the mistake was on them. On Tuesday, Burnet finally spoke and admitted on his Twitter account that it was a mistake.
However, Steven Universe fans were not very happy because of the leaked episodes, since they feared that the accessibility of these before the release date might affect the show’s ratings. The fans who did watch the leaked episodes claimed that they would watch those once again when they are officially broadcasted. Furthermore, they all agreed that what they saw was exceptional, remarkable and well-written.
The five new episodes are named Steven Dreams, Adventures in Light Distortion, Gem Heist, The Zoo and That Will be All.

The show is about a boy Steven Universe, half human, half alien, and some superhero gem women who act like his surrogate parents. The pilot episode was aired on July 27, 2013, and since then 113 episodes have been broadcasted. Steven Universe has already been renewed for Season 5 by Cartoon Network.
When Season 4 finale Three Gems and a Baby was aired, it made a flashback to the winter when, for the first time ever, Steven’s gem glowed. He was just a couple of months old when that happened.
For the Crystal Gems, Amethyst, Garnet, and Pearl it’s hard to deal with Steven’s existence and the fact that Steven’s mother Rose Quartz is not coming back. The episode ended with the realization of the three Gems that it was not about Rose anymore and that she was not trapped inside Steven.
“This isn’t about Rose. From now on, everything has to be about Steven.”
In Steven’s Dream episode, the main character will have a weird dream related to Pink Diamond. Crystal Gems turned down telling Steven about Pink Diamond, and he and his father Greg go to South Korea looking for answers, based on the explicit synopsis.
Pink Diamond, who still hasn’t appeared, was first brought up by Jasper, in Season 3, Episode 23, Earthlings.
“Because of what you did to my colony, because of what you did to my planet, because of what you did to my Diamond. My Diamond, your Diamond, Pink Diamond.”
She appeared in the mural form in Season 3, Episode 24, Back to the Moon. Eyeball expressed that it was a tragedy what happened to her, and disclosed that Pink Diamond owned the Earth as a colony. She also added seeing Rose Quartz destroy Pink Diamond.
Steven Universe Season 4 is expected to be back on Cartoon Network soon.
