Mick Foley was a solid pick-up for the position of the Raw general manager, but everybody knew that he needed a hip surgery and that it is only a matter of time before he gets replaced. WWE made a nice storyline out of it as he went up against Stephanie McMahon and Triple H before Wrestlemania. Those were some good angles between the three that ended up with Mick Foley being fired from the position.
There were only two major candidates to replace him. One of them was Hulk Hogan who is always in the rumors as many people expect him to be back in the WWE sooner rather than later. The other one was Kurt Angle as he was inducted into the Hall of Fame just a night before Wrestlemania 33.
WWE didn’t know who they want replacing Mick Foley until the Friday of Wrestlemania weekend when they called Kurt Angle and presented him with this opportunity. He gladly accepted the role while also hoping that he is one day going to maybe wrestle at least one more match in the WWE ring. Stephanie, who is in charge of the Raw storyline, is taking a vacation right now. When she gets back, this girl will be working with Angle on the red brand. Here is what she had to say about her new partner on Monday Night Raw.
“I can’t wait to work with Kurt. Kurt is so entertaining. He is really funny. I think it is going to be so much and hopefully having that interaction and this time the situation is a little bit different as I am the boss.”
When she was asked about when will she return to Monday Night Raw, Stephanie pointed out that she really doesn’t know and that “it is the God’s honest truth.”
