Red Bull King Of The Rock took place in the Serbian capital, Belgrade, where Stefan Kojić managed to win it all in front of his own crowd.
In the semis, the Lithuanian Karolis Sarukas won against Zarkov in a thriller, hitting the last shot from a free throw line. As for Kojić, he beat too strong Vakhtang Kadaria from Georgia and thus avenged his friend Bošković.
In the final game, Kojić faced a strong Lithuanian. He managed to get a 14-12 win after a tough battle. It was clearly noticeable that they were both tired, but it appeared that Kojić had a little bit more fuel in the tank.
Russian Alexei Zarkov, who is only 21, won the third place by hitting a couple of distant threes in a row.
At the end, Kojić said:”I feel fantastic, I still can’t quite believe it, it hasn’t sunk in yet, especially when I think that Serbia is now first in one-on-one basketball and officially second in the world in three-on-three. It’s a big responsibility, primarily because of the young people who want to play sports. I’m aware that young people look up to us, they see winners as role models.”
This was the seventh time Red Bull King of the Rock tournament was held. Before Belgrade, the players encountered in Alcatraz, Taiwan and thanks to Kıvanç Dinler in Istanbul. The crowd was great to since they cheered and supported not only the players from Serbia but from other countries also. It was a delight for all those who love basketball.
