Green Goblin makes Spider-Man great, but he was not the original choice. Cannon considered Doctor Octopus as the main nemesis, while James Cameron created his idea of Electro with the Sandman as his assistant. Raimi preferred Goblin, and initially, Columbia wanted both Goblin and Doctor Octopus, but Raimi dismissed that idea. Doctor Octopus and Sandman appeared in Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3.
