When Carolco secured the rights, James Cameron almost filmed his own version, and he even wrote a scriptment in which Spider-Man and Mary Jane Watson have a romance. Cameron was determined to produce Spider-Man, but he couldn’t do it because of the bankruptcy of Carolco, so he went on to film Titanic.
