It has been 40 years since Smokey and the Bandit hit the theaters across the US, and this movie was so good that it turned the 1977 Pontiac Trans Am into a star. This is an iconic movie, and the charisma and chemistry that stars such as Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, Jackie Gleason and Jerry Reed brought to the table were enormous. To mark the 40th anniversary, CarSpring did some excellent renders with Bandit’s black and gold color which made the Trans Am popular. Moreover, there is also a recast of some other vehicles that starred in this film, just to make it slightly better. Follow us back to 1977 with these modern cars.
Chevrolet Camaro
Even though Pontiac is not among us anymore, more than a few modern Trans Am models were assembled from its long-time Camaro stablemate ever since Chevrolet decided to bring it back to life in 2010. Take a look at the Chevrolet Camaro in Bandit’s black and gold. It looks awesome, doesn’t it?
Buford T. Justice’s patrol car – Dodge Charger
The Pontiac Le Mans that appeared in the original movie represented everything that was wrong with the vehicles from the 1970s. When this car got torn to shreds, we were completely indifferent, but if it was this Dodge Charger in that position, we would be devastated and angry.
Snowman’s rig – Tesla Semi
Kenworth W900 is a famous machine in the trucking world, but the movie gave it a little boost and turned it into a legend. There are many trucks that could replace this one, but don’t you think that the best truck would be the electric one? Tesla’s machines look so amazing in black and gold.
Ferrari 812 Superfast
WOW! Just take a look at this supercar from Ferrari in black and gold render with the famous logo on the hood. Now you would love to see one of these 812 Superfast models reach production, right? The engine under the hood of this Ferrari’s beast is a V12 one that delivers 789 horsepower which is four times the power you get from the regular 1977 Trans Am.
Ford F-150 Raptor
In the movie, we can see the Bandit crashing through mailboxes, driving through highway medians, jumping over a broken bridge and crossing a river. All of this would have been a piece of cake if they used what is probably one of the most famous Ford’s models – the F-150 Raptor. The Raptor is actually designed to do all those stunts we have mentioned, and you need to admit that it looks fascinating in the Bandit form.
Honda Civic Type R
This sounds slightly weird but what if we used Honda for the Bandit’s replacement? The Honda Civic Type R is already an attractive vehicle, but it looks completely natural with the Bandit’s black and gold color scheme. This is a battle between old and new, but we should remind you that the Civic has the best time at the Nurburgring when it comes to the vehicles with the front-wheel drive. That’s why we believe the Type R would be an outstanding Bandit.
Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk
This render is certainly one of the best on this list, and we are not going to try to hide our excitement. The Trackhawk has a Hellcat unit under the hood that produces 707 horsepower and adding the black and gold trim is just too much. If you pressed the pedal to the metal in this Jeep, you would leave red, white and blue tire marks on the road. You may or may not love Jeep, but you have to admit how cool the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk looks here.
