We all know that WWE has been struggling with commentating over the past couple of years. Maybe the company doesn’t feel that way, but the fans do since they have to listen to all the guys talking about something that has been fed to them by Vince McMahon and the higher ups. Some words that they repeat over and over really don’t fit. Things like “Dream Match” or some nicknames for Superstars that are not needed are always fed to the commentators.
You can say that Cory Graves is good, Phillips is decent, but that is about it. Other guys sometimes really just don’t know what they are talking about, they don’t generate excitement for the product nor do they elevate the things that are happening in the ring. All those features are something that makes a wrestling announcer good. Making it feel like it is a true competitive sport while they are telling the story that is developing in the ring is something that they need to do.
When it comes to JBL, he was never great at his job. Because of that, nobody is really going to miss him as he is the one that is going to leave the blue brand. Here is what he had to say about that topic.
“After much consideration, I will be stepping back my weekly role as Smackdown Announcer to dedicate more continuous time on the work I have done since 2010 with at risk kids and communities. My new schedule will allow me to continue to be a part of the WWE family and also continue my work that I feel is the most important thing in my life. I will continue my 20+ year relationship with WWE and will appear on such marquee shows as Tribute to the Troops, WrestleMania, amongst others.”
