A company called Skyrunner firmly believes in the concept of a flying car. Why? Because their latest buggy has a flight range of 120 miles!
The vessel we are talking about is the Skyrunner Flying Buggy. It has two seats, four wheels, an engine and everything needed for you to go from point A to point B. Although these features are common for all usual vehicles the shape of this one is the trick. It is more similar to the off-road buggies such as Can-Am and Polaris. We see that in Fox Piggyback Shocks, Polaris ProStar 1,000cc engine, Maxxis Bighorn tires and a double A-arm suspension featured on the back and at the front.
All of the aforementioned features make this vehicle excellent for all types of terrains. However what if you choose to leave the roads behind you, go a step further or better said, a step above. Well, when the terrain runs out this vehicle will save you with a parachute and a rear mounted Rotax 914 UL light-sport aircraft engine that powers the rear propeller. Wow, right? Just wow.
When it comes to speed the standard engine will make you go as fast as 70 mph on pavement, dirt or anything else (as long as it’s not water). However, if you opt to go up, the Rotax unit can propel you to almost 40 mph, but this number varies depending on the weight of the driver. It will take three minutes to deploy the ram-air parafoil wing, and the takeoff requires 450 feet, and landings need a little bit less around 400 feet.
Talking about in-air capabilities, Skyrunner Flying Buggy can reach a maximum altitude of 10,000 feet with the rate of climb standing at 465 feet per minute. It can fly approximately 120 miles, and it can go 240 miles on land.
However, not anyone can operate this vehicle. It is required that you have 14 hours of flight training to learn how to fly it in the air. How do you fly it? What are the controls? Well, you only have two flight controls: right/left steering with buggy’s toggles and a throttle pedal used for climbing and descending.
