One of the biggest camp duels in this Preseason in the NFL is finally over. There were reports that the Denver Broncos are going to pick their starting quarterback after Week 2 of the Preseason and that is exactly what happened. In a really close battle, it was Trevor Siemian that ended up getting the starting nod over Paxton Lynch who is again going to be playing behind Siemian for the second year in a row.
When we look at how the guys played in practice last week, there are reports from the Broncos’ camp that Lynch has looked quite good during the training with the San Francisco 49ers. Still, it seems that it wasn’t enough for him to win the job in the end and he is going to watch a more experienced guy take his spot in the starting lineup yet again.
Siemian was quite decent last year as he started in 14 games for the Denver Broncos and ended up winning 8 out of those 14 That is a nice record to have. Now, he is going to have to keep competing and keep improving in order for him to stay the starter for this squad. Here is what the team’s head coach had to say about this camp battle.
“I was pleased with both guys, but overall the operation of the entire offense, the decision-making, ball placement was more consistent with Trevor – that’s why he won the job. I met with those guys this morning – they understood that, we just finished our team meetings so everyone is on the same page. We are all going to support Paxton moving forward.”
