The Seattle Seahawks were in a great position to earn themselves a bye in the first week of the NFL Playoffs. But, a couple of unexpected losses, Atlanta’s easy schedule, and late-year winning streak pushed the Seahawks back to the 3rd seed in the NFC. Now, they need to beat the Niners while Atlanta has to lose in order for Seattle to regain that 2nd seed in the NFC.
Atlanta will be playing against the New Orleans Saints, a team that they have already beaten this season, in New Orleans. This round, they will be playing in Atlanta, and they should be able to beat them. That means that Seattle won’t likely get that 2nd seed, even though they are the heavy favorites in a matchup against the Niners.
San Francisco has looked somewhat better under Colin Kaepernick. He did have a couple of decent games, but injuries and the lack of quality personnel made this squad go 2-13 up to this point. They will most likely lose this match as well.
Seattle needs a strong performance going into the Playoffs. The offensive line needs to protect Wilson much better than it has so far and they need to establish the running game. If they do that, they’ll be a serious threat in the NFC. All of that starts with this duel against the Niners on Sunday.
We don’t see this as a close match. Niners won’t score more than seventeen points, and we don’t see the Seahawks scoring less than twenty points. Seattle will win this duel in Santa Clara with the final score being somewhere along the lines of 31:17 in favor of the visiting NFC West champions.
