Samsung wants to launch a new Gear Fit 2 Pro fitness smartband, which would be a follow-up to the Gear Fit 2. However, according to VentureBeat, you will be able to submerge the new gadget in the water fully.
Based on the Samsung training material, VentureBeat reported that the Gear Fit 2 Pro is going to have a clasp similar to a watch and “5 ATM water resistance.” It will be a significant upgrade from the Fit 2’s IP-68 certification since the device could only endure brief interactions with water. Furthermore, the South Korean tech giant is going to include a swim tracking feature to match courtesy of a Speedo On app.
Moreover, the Fit 2 Pro is going to come with support for music playback, offline Spotify tracks, and will have GPS. The wearable will be compatible with both iOS and Android, and just like the original Fit 2, the new fitness smartband will run Samsung’s Tizen OS, according to the report.
At this point, we don’t know anything about the pricing details and the exact release date. Evleaks posted on Twitter that the South Korean company is probably going to separate the Fit 2 Pro introduction from the Note 8 event which takes place on August 23. This means that we can see the new smartband at IFA which starts on September 1st.
