What else is left for Samsung than to continue with the production after numerous incidents with Galaxy Note 7? The company officials confirmed the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 for next year. Hopefully, the new Note will not be as hot as the previous version.
All jokes aside, this announcement proves that the name Note won’t be taken off the list. Some owners of the current versions complained about battery explosion, which happened constantly. Samsung plans to present a new upgrade program in the country of origin for the following year.
“Galaxy Upgrade Program” as it is called, will allow customers to replace their troublesome handset with either S7 or S7 Edge. In addition, they would receive the new S8 model or Note 8. This program will only be available in South Korea. The officials said: “availability of such a program in other markets will be dependent on the situation in each country,” as Reuters stated.
Two new models are supposed to be launched at Mobile World Congress on February 28. However, it may happen shortly after this congress. The company is still working on the Note 7 battery issue and because of this, the introduction of the new S8 may be delayed by two weeks tops.
The new S8 will most probably come with the curvy screen and two cameras on the back. In addition, it will have more RAM than the ongoing model. Meanwhile, LG is supposed to help Samsung with the battery for the new model. Note 8 will be a bigger version of the S8, but the specs will be similar.
