During the Saturday night and Sunday Samoa Joe was emerging as the front-runner to win this match that was the main event of the Extreme Rules pay per view. He went from being ranked the third to end up victorious to being the clear-cut favorite. Those reports that stated that Joe was going to win the fight ended up true as he was the one standing tall in the ring after everything finished.
Everybody looked good in this match as this showdown was booked nicely. Nobody seemed weak in the end. Even though Balor was the one to lose this duel, he looked tough with the finisher on Roman Reigns. Then, Samoa Joe put him in the submission move, but Balor didn’t tap out. He just faded, but still looked strong while refusing to surrender to Samoa Joe even when he was in a hopeless situation.
There is no doubt that this is a big deal for the Samoan Submission Machine. He is going to be the number one contender for Brock Lesnar’s WWE Universal Championship. The rumors are saying that this match will be just one-and-done deal as WWE is still planning to push Braun Strowman when he makes his return. This is a shame for Joe since he can be the credible opponent for Brock Lesnar that the company could utilize.
Still, even though this is probably just going to be a transitional feud for the Beast Incarnate, it is going to be interesting to see him going up against somebody that is as legit as Samoa Joe. It is still going to be a great match between two guys that look believable as two dominant forces on the roster. Lesnar will likely retain, but the question is how are they going to book the match so that Samoa Joe doesn’t look weak in it. Hopefully, the company has big plans for Joe in the future.
