Rowan Atkinson’s rare Land Rover is up for auction next month. The popular actor, who is famous for his Mr. Bean role is more recognizable in a battered Mini or crashing McLaren F1, but his Land Rover Defender has only covered 2,260 miles.
The Defender 90 Heritage is Land Rover’s special edition model which was introduced in 2015/16. The vehicle comes with Grasmere Green color, a white roof, bespoke front grille and HUE 166 graphics, which is a reminder of the first pre-production Series I Land Rover produced way back in 1947.
There are only 400 examples made, and they came with the starting price of £27,800. Also, there are other Land Rover special models such as Adventure and Autobiography which cost £43,495 and £61,845 respectively.
Rowan Atkinson ordered the very new Defender Heritage, and it was delivered to him on November 28th, 2015. He didn’t spend a lot of time in this vehicle, which gives it a status of “as-new.” Unlike his character, Rowan Atkinson has taste in cars, and the Defender comes with some interesting modifications which include updated sound systems, tow bar, bespoke dog guard and mud flaps.
The Land Rover will head for auction at the Silverstone Classic festival at the end of July. It is estimated that Atkinson’s Defender will be sold for about £42,000.
“Silverstone Auctions are very proud to offer this car with such a distinguished pedigree and which, in our opinion, represents the very best of a great British tradition. Never has there been a car that has so captured the imagination of the world,” said Silverstone Auctions managing director, Nick Whale.
“This distinctive limited edition is sure to be highly sought-after, offering buyers and collectors a slice of exclusive Land Rover history, and, with celebrity ownership by the hugely successful and admired Mr. Rowan Atkinson, this particular car has even more added appeal.”
