Richard Sherman Comments On Trade Talk

There were rumors about the Seattle Seahawks wanting to move on from Richard Sherman. The thought process behind that is understandable as Sherman is paid big bucks while this Seattle team is not quite as good as they were a couple of seasons ago, especially when it comes to the defensive side of the ball. Still, he is one of the elite pass defenders in the NFL, and it seems that Seahawks do want to keep him.

The feeling is mutual as Sherman wants to stay a Seahawk. Here is what he had to say about the trade rumors.

“I wouldn’t want to leave this city and my guys, but I understand it’s a business and organizational philosophies change,” Sherman was pretty clear when he talked about a possible trade while speaking to the reporters.

There were rumors that Seattle had talked with the New England Patriots before the champions addressed the cornerback position in the offseason. Per NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, GM John Schneider said that he talks with many teams about many players all the time, but that he really didn’t have any intention of moving an All-Pro corner.

Head coach Pete Carol also briefly addressed these rumors while calling them “banter” and noting that he really doesn’t see anything happening. It’s not an unusual thing for squads to trade their star players for picks as they want to get younger, to get cheaper talent and use the money elsewhere. In this situation, it seems that Seattle wants to keep Sherman and that they are not interested in moving him at this point in time.
