Well, this actually happened! Renault managed to snatch the best Concept Car Design Award for last year by Car Design News, and it did that by beating the likes of Jaguar and Mercedes.
If you recall Renault revealed their Trezor – a big and sleek two-door electric sports car – in September at Paris Motor Show just last year. The award in question was granted by a 20 people who created distinguished judge panel which has numerous design experts from multiple manufacturers. The judging panel, among others, included chief design officer of Hyundai Motor Group Peter Schreyer, executive design director at Nissan Mamoru Aoki, chief design officer at Daimler Gorden Wagener, and head of design at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Ralph Gilles. All of them voted the Renault Trezor a winner, Jaguar I-PACE second place and the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 third.
This French concept is considered by its makers to be the embodiment of the company’s styling and technology which is advancing with every creation they make. The Trezor is powered by a 350 HP electric motor which allows it to go from 0 to 60 MPH in less than four seconds, which is just amazing. The award was given to the members of Renault’s design team at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show which started just last week. After they had received the award the senior vice-president of Renault corporate design, Laurens van den Acker gave a statement saying “It’s an honor to receive this award, because it’s voted by our peers, and that’s the hardest audience to satisfy.” This recognition just goes to show how talented the Renault designers are, just how much trouble they had, and how much work was put into Trezor to achieve something like this.
One more electric car from the same manufacturer took a stand at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, and it is the new Renault concept called the ZOE e-sport which is basically a sporty 462 HP version of the electric supermini.
