Toyota revealed more details and specifications about the upgraded 2017 Toyota RAV4. The new car will have more safety and personalization options. Also, some of the equipment in the car will be updated and on a completely new level.
The most significant update is the installment of autonomous emergency braking (AEB) on automatic GX version of a car. However, this safety option is alternative.
However, the safety pack on the Cruiser will remain standard, whereas GXL will have optional one. Safety pack will contain sensors so that a forward collision can be avoided, cruise control and sensors in front, when parking a car. Moreover, the wipers will be automatic, the system that detects when the vehicle is about to deviate from a traffic lane also know as lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beam, and trailer sway control.

Anyhow, the GX variant will have even more safety features in addition to the aforementioned. The driver will be able to get information from the 4.2-inch TFT display. Also, the car will possess satellite navigation, automatic headlights, and DAB+ digital radio. Moreover, the instrument cluster will be updated and the front bumper will have a different look.
Be that as it may, one would have to add extra $3800 to the base price of the GX variant in order to get all these features.
Satellite navigation is considered to be standard for the GXL. If you decide to pay $2500 more, you will end up with GXL with the safety features like the optional ones in the GX.
It is important to mention that safety features are not the only upgrades. Also, one can choose a variant with contrasting paint finish on petrol GXL models if they pay $1000 more. Front and rear bumpers will be painted in silver alongside the side mirrors. Moreover, the company decided to paint wheel arches and door sills in silver too. These details add more style to the car which looks more fashionable and modern. To contrast these silver details the headliner and pillars are black. The combination of colors is excellent and the car does look beautiful.
New, additional equipment is added to the Cruiser variant. With the two position memory function which has become standard, the driver can adjust the seat to his liking and by pushing the button one can get the same angle every time they enter a car. Also, ambient footwell lighting is also installed.
Speaking of the engine it will remain the same as before. The future drivers can choose between 107kW 2.0-liter petrol for the base car, 2.4- liter petrol unit producing 177 horsepower and 110/kW 2.2-liter turbo diesel.
The 2.0-liter petrol engine will be inserted into GX model which will have a front-wheel drive. The manual will be either with six speeds or a CVT, whereas a six-speed automatic will follow the 2.5-liter petrol power plant and the models with this engine will have a four-wheel drive.
The Cruiser and GXL will not have the manual version, comparing to the 2.2-liter diesel version of the GX.
