U.S. Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) subscribers are privileged to have an access to many of the highly popular and entertaining shows, which includes Dexter’s final season, 30 Rock’s 7 seasons, comedy show ‘It’s always sunny in Philadelphia’s’ first eight seasons, and many more. Though Canadians too are very much interested in gaining access to these shows, unfortunately none of these are available there. While these shows are not available in Canada, the popularity has led many subscribers into discovering a secret trick for getting the access to the blocked shows and movies.
Canadians love Netflix
Nearly one-third Anglophone Canadians have been successful at gaining access to the U.S. Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) as revealed by a new report. To gain a meaningful sight in to the tech habits and routines of the Anglophone Canadians, a telephonic survey was conducted by the Media Technology Monitor with the sample size of 2002 respondents. Nearly 32% respondents admitted availing Netflix services as subscribers, and this was much higher than 25%, who agreed to its usage in the 2013 spring poll.
Of all the people surveyed nearly one-third agreed of using the service for duration of two or more years, and an equal number of people said they did use the services for less than two years. As many as 88% respondents admitted using Netflix on a weekly basis for streaming content. Between March 18 and April 19 this survey was conducted by Forum Research. TV shows were streamed more often by the Canadian Netflix subscribers in comparison with movies and documentaries.
Streaming depends on subscriber’s location
The reason behind the failure of blocking of U.S. content beyond boundaries is the presence of certain online services, who manipulate the user’s IP address in such a manner that it appears to be of a location very much different from the actual. The users can easily subscribe to these services and avail it for free. The service allows them the access to maximum available content over Netflix’s catalogues for different nations.
Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) has its presence in over 40 countries of the world, but the content offered in the local markets of various nations is restricted by the licensing agreements signed with them. The shows available for viewing depend on the subscriber’s location.
