A mythological fantasy series created in co-production of Canada and the UK, under the helm of executive producer and the series’ creator Nick Willing, Olympus came out on April 2, 2015, on Super Channel. In the United States it was broadcast on the Syfy channel. The storyline of the TV show explains how the thread of fate connects four different people in their plan to reach the Olympus.
While the TV series received average or at best mixed reviews from critics, it received mainly favorable reviews from the audience. Namely, Keith Uhlich from “The Hollywood Reporter” said for the series to be “a high-camp soap opera performed in a virtual void – which doesn’t make it good” and rated the show at 50 out of 100 on Metacritic. Moreover, Hillary Busis from “Entertainment Weekly” rated this fantasy at 42 out of 100, stating that “There are occasional bursts of inspiration but the whole is far from divine.”
Pretty harsh, one would say. Nonetheless, the audience rated the TV show at 7.4 out of 10 on Metacritic, based on 41 ratings. The series was also greatly praised by the audience on Rotten Tomatoes. It has a 90% approval rating, with a score of 3.8 out of 5, based on 138 user reviews. On IMDB, this one was rated at 7 out of 10, based on 1 review from critics, 70 reviews from viewers and over 6,300 user votes. The TV series has a score of 5 out of 10 on TV.com, based on 56 votes.
There are four protagonists in the story – courageous Hero (Tom York), ludicrous scientist Daedalus (Matt Frewer), dashing and intelligent Oracle (Sonya Cassidy) and cunning Medea (Sonita Henry). They got united by fate in order to revive the ghosts and find out the truth about Olympus.
Release Date
The first season ended on July 2, 2015. Ever since then neither Syfy nor Super Channel announced anything on the renewal or cancellation of the Olympus TV show. Nonetheless, we’re hoping they will announce it as soon as possible, and we’ll let you know the moment we find out.
