Latest news from Novak Djokovic is that he and Boris Becker will not cooperate anymore. Only time will tell if this was the right call, but we can’t forget that German trainer was the one that was helping Novak to return to that number one position.
Cooperation between these two started in 2013 when Becker joined his team. With the help of the German, he managed to regain the first position but later he lost it due to the back problems he was facing.
The agreement was that they would summarize every season and decide if they should continue or terminate their cooperation. After few successful years, it was time to end their run as they decided to part ways at the end of this season. Good news is that this was a mutual decision and that they split as friends.
These were very successful seasons for Djokovic while Becker was his main coach. During that time Novak managed to win total of 25 ATP trophies. He conquered Australian Open and Wimbledon two times while he was also successful at Rolan Garros and US Open. Final result, six Grand Slam titles, pretty impressive.
Here is the statement from Novak:
“After three very successful years, Boris Becker and I have jointly decided to end our cooperation. The goals we set when we started working together have been completely fulfilled, and I want to thank him for the cooperation, teamwork, dedication, and commitment. On the other hand, my professional plans are now directed primarily to maintain a good level of play and also to make a good schedule and new goals for the next season. In this regard, I will make all future decisions.”
We still don’t have any information why this happened and if Marian Vajda will remain on his team. Stay tuned to hear more news about our favorite tennis player.
