If you believed that the new Frontier would come out with some new features and modified exterior and interior, you were wrong. Namely, the new car is almost identical to the current model, and only a few pieces of equipment are updated. Someone who is not an expert would hardly make a distinction between the new and the ongoing version.
The rivalry automakers have come up with major overhauls, and Nissan will not have a chance to compete for the number one spot in the pickup truck segment. Nevertheless, the refreshment will definitely make this car look better and more refined.
Exterior Modifications
The changes that are visible to the naked eye are the ones regarding the body color. Besides that, Nissan decided to offer a moonroof for the new Crew Cab SV variant. The rest of the exterior remains identical compared to the 2016 vehicle. Note that the Nissan Frontier received complete overhaul back in 2009. Ever since then, the Japanese automaker has only been “polishing” this car and adding the necessary features.
The changes to the exterior are not that essential because the current model is quite appealing. Just like the 2016 version, the 2017 Nissan Frontier is equipped with a classic small grille at the front while the roof rack is available within the range. Instead of a regular cab model, Nissan offers the King Cab, the extended version and the Crew Cab, which has four doors. Also, 5- and 6-food beds are available, but whether you will go with the former or the latter depends on a trim level you choose.
You can pick your 2017 Nissan Frontier in Lava Red, Cayenne Red, Arctic Blue Metallic and Gun Metallic. In addition to that, the new pick-up truck comes in Forged Copper, Glacier White, Brilliant Silver and Magnetic Black.
Inside of the Nissan Frontier 2017
The 2017 Nissan Frontier retains the classic look and just like with the rest of the car it is unchanged. The interior is not the most beautiful you have seen because some of the parts look outdated and the steering wheel is bulky. Nevertheless, the cabin is quite functional, but the design can be repellent for some. Moreover, there is a lot of space inside, so during longer rides, the passengers will be comfortable.
If you opt for a King Cab version, don’t expect too much space in the back, though. Adults might not have enough room, and it is mainly because the fold-down seats are inserted in the back. The Crew Cab may be a better choice if you are looking for a more spacious interior. However, the seats in this version of the 2017 Nissan Frontier are smaller than the ones in Tacoma or Colorado.
Engine Options
Earlier, we have said that the new model will not have a chance for the first place in the market because there are a lot of competitors who may be better-equipped or which performance is better. That doesn’t mean that the new Frontier will not be fighting for one of the top five places.
The 2017 Nissan Frontier comes with the same engine options as the 2016 model. This means that the standard engine is a 2.5-liter I4 that produces 152 hp and 171 lb-ft of torque. This unit is mated to a five-speed manual transmission, which sends power to the rear wheels and customers can opt for a five-speed automatic.
Another engine option that is offered is the 4.0-liter V6 good for 261 hp and 281 lb-ft of torque. This powerplant is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, but just like it is the case with the previous unit, this one can also be combined with a five-speed automatic.
Nissan Frontier 2017 Price
The starting price of the Nissan Frontier 2017 is $18,390. Although the new model is almost identical to the previous one, it remains attractive, and the customers will definitely be happy with this choice.
