The Nightmare Before Christmas is hands down one of the best movies for this holiday. Many consider watching this ahead of Christmas to be a tradition of its own. The Halloween Town, Sally, Jack, and Zero have been a vital part of our Christmas holidays for years now even though this gem arrived in theaters in 1993. But did you know that this film has quite a few peculiar things that you’ve probably missed? Let’s take a look.
2Half the movie songs were demos
Due to the nature of stop-motion process of shooting, the crew behind this movie had to spend three years to make Jack Skellington’s animated story. But, did you know that half of the songs that ended up in the film were demo versions? They were, indeed. At a 2012 Film and TV panel put on by Billboard and The Hollywood reporter, Danny Elfman, a composer responsible for the soundtrack revealed this. Jack Skellington was voiced by Chris Sarandon and Elfman created demo vocals for Jack’s songs having the idea that another singer would eventually replace him. But, filmmakers liked his versions so they decided to keep him and use them in the movie. When it comes to tunes from The Nightmare Before Christmas, they have been reinterpreted by numerous artists, including Fall Out Boy and Marilyn Manson.
