Before the Paris Motor Show, Lexus revealed pictures of the SUV UX Concept and the most interesting thing is that the new model will be without mirrors.
Anyway, the car is expected to be wide and with giant wheels for a pleasurable ride. According to the Autocar’s Sam Sheehan, this car will have “suicide doors” because the handles are located in the middle which is pretty unusual for an SUV, but fashionable.
Cameras that will substitute for side view mirrors are perhaps the most attractive feature of the car, but we are not sure if this will comply with all safety regulations.
However, this is not the first time someone decided to replace mirrors with cameras. BMW i8 concept car displayed that kind of design at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show. Hopefully, we will see more of this in the future.
Japan is one of the first countries in the world to tackle this innovative technology. In June, they got the approval to produce and sell cars without mirrors, and since Toyota owns Lexus, we might expect the further development and use of this technology in the future models of the company.
Beside this, there’s not much information about some other features of the car. However, as Lexus stated that the concept “showcases imaginative technologies for an immersive driver experience, while the interior marries traditional craftsmanship with high-tech manufacturing techniques.”
From this, we learned that the side view mirrors should be replaced with cameras, but in order to see that in the production line, we will have to be patient.
Hopefully, we will get some new information about the UX at the Paris Motor Show.
